About the Role

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant or Belfast.

Salary: £44,100 - £66,100 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

What is the Role?

The Senior Finance Business Partner is a role within Group Services Finance, supporting all corporate functions other than IT. The role will support or lead various FP&A initiatives such as the preparation of both the annual budget and the strategic 10-year model for Corporate Services, in year reporting and forecasting, as well as process improvement activities.

There are no formal line management responsibilities currently attached to this role, it will require content leadership and collaborative working with the Group Services Financial Controller, the Head of Internal Group Reporting and others in the Group Services finance team. It will also require close collaboration with senior stakeholders across SSE's Corporate Functions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Planning

Provide financial advice and input across corporate functions, articulating this to non-Finance stakeholders.

Use financial and business knowledge to identify key risks and opportunities which will inform business plans, forecasts, and management reporting.

Provide a broad range of detailed and insightful business analysis in order to facilitate decision making and identify potential improvement opportunities (e.g., financial analysis, sensitivity analysis).

Display good communication and relationship building skills, including with third parties as needed.

Budgeting & Forecasting

Input to budget and regular forecasting process as required, bringing forward insight on major initiatives where appropriate.

Support the move toward more integrated performance management, such as rolling forecasts.

Develop and / or validate business planning assumptions.

Process Improvement

Support Group wide Finance Transformation programme where appropriate.

Work with Group Services Financial Controller and others to identify and implement initiatives and opportunities - including streamlining production of monthly MI reporting.

What do I need?

- Fully qualified accountant with 5+ years Post Qualified Experience in a Business Partner / Finance Manager / Management Accountant business-interfacing role with experience of solving complex business issues.

- Experience interpreting and assimilating multiple data sources, to provide meaningful insight, appropriate recommendations, and clear actions.

- The ability to effectively communicate financial performance/improvements to operational colleagues to embed financial understanding within the business.

- An excellent track record of Finance Business Partnering with Senior Leaders.

- The ability to manage multiple complex projects/processes simultaneously.

- Proficiency in MS Office applications (particularly Excel) is highly desirable.
