The UK Atomic Weapons Establishment is embarking on a Replacement Nuclear Warhead programme, to ensure the UK continuous at sea deterrent.

This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to be part of such an important mission and this key role will play a vital role leading our maintenance and reliability teams across multiple projects applying an asset management framework to a national critical mission with a developing infrastructure.

Principal Maintenance & Reliability Engineer

Location: Aldermaston, Berkshire

Package: £55,450 - £85,000 (depending on your suitability and level of experience)

As Principal Maintenance & Reliability Engineer, you'll be required to:

  • Deliver Maintenance & Reliability solutions in relation to defined requirements, across the full engineering lifecycle, to a high standard

  • Applying Engineering methods, tools and processes to complex engineering tasks

  • Providing guidance and mentoring to inexperienced engineers about the practical use of Engineering methods, tools and processes

  • Strategically delivering engineering solutions that will maximise productivity, reliability, innovation and quality to the business

  • Lead effective stakeholder management to engage others in order to have a positive impact on decisions and programme delivery

  • Identify and support opportunities for cost savings, efficiency and business improvement

  • Identify appropriate resources and where they need to be allocated to deliver engineering solutions

Though not to be considered a check list, we will be looking for candidates to demonstrate:

  • Previous experience leading multi-discipline teams through the engineering lifecycle

  • Asset Management Experience

  • The ability to articulate technical complexities to a range of stakeholders

  • Excellent interpersonal, engagement and presentation skills

  • Previous experience of delivering an engineering / reliability engineering capability across a manufacturing and / or research environment

  • An understanding and ability to apply applicable legislation and standards relevant to safety within engineering

  • Experience of HV/LV power supplies and site steam heating systems would be beneficial but not essential

  • Degree qualification in an engineering discipline or have proven experience working in a similar environment

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.

Experience working in a nuclear environment under licence conditions is desirable but not essential.
