About the Role

Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK or Ireland sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant, Belfast or Dublin.

Reporting to the Transportation and Installation Engineering Manager and working within the SSE Renewables Offshore Engineering business, you will be responsible for providing specialist support across a range of offshore wind projects at various stages of development from early stage feasibility through to offshore construction activities, contributing to innovation and technology developments.

You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of all marine design development activities required on SSER's multi-£billion Fixed and Floating Offshore Wind Project Portfolio, including the coordination and delivery of T&I marine activities during construction.

Key Accountabilities Will Include:

- Playing a key role in development and assessment of project T&I engineering, including T&I input to structure design. You will provide the evaluation of technical proposals for port facilities, offshore contractors, and the associated specialist equipment and installation methodologies.

- Support the development of robust offshore installation campaign planning, by ensuring reliable definition of site environmental conditions, operation durations & the associated operable limits, through management of seakeeping & operability assessments, and provision of marine logistics modelling.

- Implement SSER's (T&I) engineering requirements on project at all stages of development maturity to ensure safe systems of work, an optimised and cost competitive design, with due consideration for innovative solutions.

- Highlight key T&I project risks and design issues, communicating effectively to management on these matters, and supporting risk mitigation and resolution of design issues.

- Act as project T&I representative in interface with substructure design team, T&I contractors, specialist contractors and tool designers, Marine Warranty Surveyor, and project's operational teams on site and offshore.



What do I need?

We are looking for a Chartered or near Chartered Engineer educated to degree level, who has technical knowledge and experience within Transport & Installation engineering.

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Demonstrable experience working in a similar role, at project execution stage, ideally in offshore wind or O&G. Transferable experience from other industries will be considered for this role.

- A can-do proactive attitude with a proven history of interfacing and collaborating across multi-discipline teams to support decision making and due diligence process and achieve outcomes.

- A degree qualification in relevant engineering subject or equivalent experience in a similar role with a passion for renewable energy and knowledge of relevant governances and international offshore wind bid and auction processes.

- The capability to challenge the status quo and drive continuous improvement.

- Demonstrable understanding of engineering processes and experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams (Engineering Packages) together with a common purpose from early stage to delivery.

- Ability to travel internationally and on-site as and when required.
