The Electrical Contractors’ Association (ECA) is one of the UK’s oldest trade associations.  It’s the leading body for the entire range of contractors and firms involved in the electrical and electrotechnical industry, across the domestic, commercial and industrial sectors.  

Our Association is currently recruiting a Technical Manager to join their technical team who develop and deliver technical support services and guidance to members and the wider electro-technical sector. The association provides an authoritative voice on technical policy, regulations, standards and competence for the benefit of members and the industry as a whole.

The candidate shall be enthusiastic, able to work in a small team and preferably educated to degree level in electrical engineering. Extensive previous experience of electrical building services, preferably in a contracting environment. Must have knowledge of technical skills in design and installation of a broad spectrum of electro-technical systems.

Responsibilities and skills:

  • Liaise and advise members via technical help-line
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations to members
  • Provide representation on technical working groups and committees
  • Produce authoritative technical publications
  • Liaison with external assessment bodies on technical competency
  • Liaise with member services and regional team regarding member on-boarding and retention
  • Communicate changes to current and emerging legislation, standards, and technologies
  • Up to date technical knowledge and skills
  • BIM/CAD systems awareness
  • Quality control and assurance awareness
  • Health and safety knowledge
  • Technical and general business software skills
