We can’t disclose explicit details but can tell you we’re leading advancements in emerging technologies to deliver bespoke solutions to niche and specialist areas of the Met. The only way you can appreciate our sophisticated technologies, and how we’re using them to protect the public and fight crime across London, is to see them for yourself.

Due to expansion, we have a unique opportunity for a Senior Technical Project Manager who wants to work in a highly respected engineering and science environment. The Technology, Research, and Innovation (TRI) team keeps the Met at the leading-edge of tech. Our work is highly innovative and inventive with no two projects the same. Some of our initiatives involve partnering with academia to undertake research or exploring new off-the-shelf technologies. Others involve modifying commercially available products or creating our own.

Delivery of our solutions involves the complete lifecycle from developing requirements with customers, producing design solutions and turning these designs into a fully functional product or system for operational use.

As a Senior Technical Project Manager, you will manage a collection of TRI projects and will be responsible for delivering the innovative solutions using trusted suppliers, academia and in-house TRI engineers and scientists. This will involve using your technical knowledge and skills to effectively steer and manage project teams to successfully deliver solutions on time to meet operational deadlines

A typical day may include engaging with MPS operational officers, capturing and documenting requirements, meeting with suppliers, and partner agencies and managing innovative projects. As the Senior Technical Project Manager, you will act as the focal point for project management standards across TRI.

As well as all the formal responsibilities set out in project management methodologies, you will need written and verbal communication skills to ensure all parties are kept engaged throughout each project. You will be someone who can readily engage and win support of others as you will be working with some of the UK’s leading suppliers and prominent academic, so you will need to be able to communicate at their level. Maintaining momentum on projects is essential to keep the operational customers focused.

We would love to hear from highly motivated individuals with a passion for delivering engineering or IT projects.
