Offshore Grid Manager

Base Location: Flexible Ireland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices or depots in Ireland.

What is the Role?

Our Offshore Engineering Team are playing a key role in the construction of the world's largest offshore wind farm, situated off the East coast of England, as well as construction of Scotland's largest offshore wind farm. In Ireland we are preparing Arklow Bank Wind Park Phase 2 for participation in Ireland's first CfD offshore auction next year and developing a pipeline of additional offshore projects to participate in later auctions. We are also supporting development of several major offshore wind farm projects across the UK and Europe as well as opportunities in Asia Pacific and USA.

SSE Renewables Offshore Engineering are currently growing our Offshore Grid Team and are looking for a Grid Manager to support our portfolio of offshore projects in Ireland and International Markets.

Some of the main responsibilities of the grid team include:

- Influencing and shaping Offshore Grid Policy in Ireland.

- Developing and delivering the grid connection strategy for SSE Renewables offshore projects in Ireland.

- Grid feasibility assessments and management of the Grid connection process with the Transmission companies.

- Grid support for Auctions and Project Acquisitions.

- Management of interface with the TSO for contractual and technical issues.

- Assessment of connection offers and management of grid securities.

- Achieving and maintaining Grid Code compliance, system study compliance and grid outage management.

- Identification of ancillary system service contracts to add additional revenue streams.

- Representing SSE Renewables on key industry panels, committees and working groups.

What do I need?

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and growing grid team and play a key role in supporting SSE's Offshore growth ambitions in Ireland and Internationally, so if you believe that you have skills that would compliment the SSE Grid Team, we would be extremely keen to hear from you.

To be considered for a role in the SSE Grid Team we would love you to have some of the following experience:

- Knowledge of offshore grid policy in Ireland.

- Knowledge of the Irish transmission system, its operation and current/future challenges.

- Knowledge of Ancillary Services in Ireland.

- Technical knowledge and experience within the transmission/ power generation industry.

- Effective organisation capabilities with the ability to deliver quality work to the agreed timescales along with good report writing and interpersonal skills.

- Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of the implications of engineering activities and decisions.

- Ability to interpret and communicate requirements of relevant standards and codes such as the EirGrid Grid Code.

- Grid knowledge to support other international markets such as Europe, Asia or the US.

While having the above experience or a background in Renewables is desirable it isn't absolutely necessary, as we welcome applications from those with transferable experience. It's more important to us that you share our values, bring unique experience and are eager to learn.
