What you’ll be doing for us:

To work as part of a client side team that defines and resolves complex data collection and data integration issues ( i.e. ETL - Extract, Transform and Load design and development ) to make data and information available to decision makers, internal and external interfaces and real time decision procedures with operation systems and delivery channels. The Consultant Data Engineer specialises in helping clients within large scale projects and programmes to help shape specific solutions. However, they will also need to develop a holistic view of the organisation. Consultant Data Engineers will often work closely with Enterprise Data Architects.

What previous experience will you have:

Preferably in the Defence Domain (or with the ability to adjust)
  • Managing teams to an agreed schedule and within budget
  • Generating metrics and reporting the status of the engineering on your project
  • Responsible for the process and lifecycle choices for your project
  • Solving problems and re-planning where required
  • Developing the engineering workforce
  • Supporting recruitment


Your skills and experiences:
  • Sets strategies for effective use of ETL and Data Integration Tools
  • Provides expert knowledge in the selection, provision and use of ETL architectures, software and facilities, typically taking responsibility for a team or technical staff.
  • Leads the development of architectures for complex systems, ensuring consistency with specified requirements agreed with both external and internal customers.
  • Establishes policy and strategy for the selection of systems architecture components working with Enterprise/Solution Architects as required. Co-ordinates design activities and good engineering practice e.g. based on Erchitecture Engineering Quick Strat, promoting these disciplines to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Ensures that appropriate standards (corporate, industry, regulatory, legal, safety-related, national and international) are identified and adhered to.
  • Delivery of complex solutions (numbers of data sources or technical components), working with Solution Architects as required and utilising proven design patterns as far as possible.
  • Reviews data-related contracts for external suppliers (or from client to internal/external customer).
  • Works with minimal supervision on major strategic engagements
  • Good communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
