About the Role
Base Location: Flexible, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK sites, which includes but is not limited to:- Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant.
Salary: £60,203 - £69,982 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

As a Lead Engineer, we're looking for the right inquisitive, enthusiastic, technically minded and motivated candidate to be able to act and prioritise independently as well as collaborate successfully with relevant peers and business stakeholders to ensure we deliver upon our value focused outcomes. Focusing within the End User Computing space we're looking for someone to lead the strategy for SSE Thermal across technologies ranging from Collaboration Spaces to Augmented Reality and everything in between.
Primary duties for the role include:
- Working with Product Owners and Technical colleagues within a value stream to assist with organising and delivering the backlog of work.
- Assessing and defining the best EUC solutions across SSE Thermal including Atex rated mobile devices, collaboration spaces, desktops & laptops, wearables, and augmented & virtual reality.
- Developing a cloud compute platform to support a growing requirement for high performance EUC.
- Supporting the adoption of Group IT EUC strategies to ensure relevance for the SSE Thermal business unit and acting as Technical Authority for EUC.
- Defining and managing critical endpoints associated with critical business processes such as exporting electricity to grid and trading gas storage.
What do I need?
Experience in the Energy/Utilities industry would provide a great advantage towards this role.
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Experience of Unified Endpoint Management tools such as Microsoft Intune including Configuration Manager and co-management, Endpoint Analytics and Windows Autopilot.
- Understanding of Agile and Scrum frameworks.
- Practical experience of collaboration technologies such as Microsoft Teams and enabling front line workers for remote support.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of augmented and virtual reality technologies such as HoloLens, RealWare and Oculus.
- Knowledge of Cloud Desktops and PaaS for infrastructure such as Microsoft Azure file shares.
