About the Role

In alignment with our growth plans, we are looking for a number of Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) Controls Engineer Apprentices to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to join our Building Controls and Services Programme within the Energy Solutions team. This team focuses on helping businesses achieve significant reductions in their building's energy consumption through the Installation, Commissioning and Support of Building Management Systems and remote support via our Energy Management Centre.

Reporting into the Operations Manager, once trained, you'll ensure that building management systems are installed, maintained and operate correctly at customer sites, through service level and commissioning tasks, ensuring Optimum Comfort conditions, whilst at the same time, achieving maximum Energy Efficiency and Savings.

This Level 4 Apprenticeship is designed to develop apprentices into tomorrows engineers. During this 36 month-long programme, you will receive comprehensive training which will enable you to develop your skills and technical knowledge, allowing you to achieve industry accreditations. Whilst on this apprenticeship programme you will:

- Review and implement heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) software strategies to improve a buildings operational control and efficiency.

- Design, build, install, commission and repair BEMS software and controls equipment.

- Work safely alongside the engineering team and assist with on-site activities.

- Develop skills and apply knowledge when operating on-site.

- Produce site reports along with remedial / enhancement recommendations.

Whilst at work, you will get the opportunity to put your training into practise. Throughout your time at SSE, you will be trained and mentored by qualified engineers and supported by our experienced and friendly team.

- For this particular apprenticeships candidates need to be 18+ when they start the programme.
