As a Senior Composites Engineer in our 'Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology' (ADS&T) business you will take the lead delivering a wide variety of projects, ranging from niche consultancy to large, high-profile programmes. Whether it's the challenge of aircraft electrification or designing critical equipment to support the UK's Continuous at Sea Deterrent, you can take pride in the impact your contribution will make on advancing our world.
Your purpose:
As a Senior Composites Engineer within ADS&T you will -
- Create optimal design solutions to address client requirements.
- Produce substantiation calculations to demonstrate designs will perform as required.
- Author and update technical documents.
- Manage your delivery against Time, Cost and Quality requirements.
- Support our QA process through review or checking of colleagues work.
- Present your work to the client at formal reviews.
- Work within project teams, these may include placements at clients sites.
You will have -
- A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartership with a relevant engineering institution or be progressing.
- Extensive knowledge of the design, analysis and manufacture of composite structures and components.
- Effective leadership skills with specific experience of leading mechanical engineering delivery teams.
- Experience of working in the aerospace and defence sector with knowledge of the related design processes and procedures.
- Considerable experience in review and substantiation of composite structures from first principles.
- A willingness to travel to clients’ sites around the country to assist in winning new work and delivering current projects.
- Experience of presenting technical material to senior stakeholders.
You may also have:
- Knowledge of aircraft structural airworthiness requirements.
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience.
- Design and Computer Aided Design experience.
- Experience of testing/commissioning structures and equipment for service operation.
