Panel Wiring Technician

Salary: £25,702 to £27,938 per annum (dependent on skills and experience). A Specialist Allowance of up to £2000 per annum is also available for this role.
Contract Type: Open Ended
Location: Science and Technology Facilities Council, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory Harwell, Oxfordshire.

Our ISIS facility is a leading particle accelerator used to carry out research in the physical and life sciences. The facility performs ground-breaking research into the structure and properties of materials at atomic and molecular level and is the most productive research centre of its type in the world.

As a Panel Wiring Technician at this world-leading facility you will support with:

  • Building, assembling, and installing control panels.
  • Cable assembly, including soldering and crimping.
  • Working on both workshop and field-based tasks, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of different systems.

You will be working within our friendly and welcoming team of technicians, collaborating with people with a wide range of specialities. This offers a great opportunity for sharing knowledge and a chance for you to build your experience in other subject areas.

We are looking for someone with:

  • A recognised electrical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • An ability to read and understand technical engineering documents.
  • Experience with different types of cabling and cable assembly.
  • Power tool, metal fitting and machine shop experience.
  • Knowledge of basic electrical safety.
