RACE (Remote Applications in Challenging Environments) is based at Culham, within UKAEA, specialising in remote handling and automated systems. RACE’s objective is to create an internationally recognised centre of technical leadership for Remote Applications in Challenging Environments, delivering complex solutions, developing new technologies and supporting UK industry.

Job Description
Who are we looking for?

As a Senior Electrical Technician, you will be involved in a wide range of electrical system build and installation projects, across all RACE activities. You'll need to be a self-starter and have initiative to take ownership of situations and find solutions. You must also be experienced in managing and developing teams of technicians, including apprentices.

What will you be responsible for?

The Senior Electrical Technician is responsible for electrical systems build activities, and supervising technician teams for electrical work across the RACE portfolio.

Key duties:

- Undertake electrical wiring, installation and cubicle build tasks.
- Supervise technician teams in the above activities.
- Review build information and design packs for electrical builds and installation.
- General workshop management, supporting Workshop Manager.

Qualifications
Essential skills, experience and competence required

- A relevant engineering degree /HND or HNC/ apprenticeship or equivalent with significant industry experience
- Qualified to the current BS7671 Wiring Regulations
- Ability to understand and work from drawings and schematics
- Comprehensive knowledge of crimping and soldering techniques
- Knowledge and experience of assembly of high-density connectors
- Experienced in fault finding techniques in electrical systems and devices
- Experienced in the supervision of a workshop and management of technicians
