About the Role

Base Location: Peterhead Power Station, Aberdeenshire

Salary: £38,073 - £44,257 + performance-related bonus + skills shortage allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

SSE Thermal have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Operations team at Peterhead Power Station. You will be part of a small operational shift team reporting into the Work Execution Lead.

Key Responsibilities include;

- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks as instructed to ensure the continued reliability and availability of the assets.

- Record and report maintenance findings through CMMS-Investigation of plant failures / defects, specify and implement remedial action to achieve effective resolution.

- The management and supervision of on site maintenance contract work to ensure all such work is executed successfully and delivered safely, on time and to budget.

- Advise on site spares holdings and provide technical specification for replacement parts / components where appropriate.

- Complete management of change process when change is necessary.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- HNC or equivalent level technical qualification in an applicable engineering discipline. You should also have experience working within power generation or other heavy industry.

- Time served tradesman in an applicable trade.

- You will have a good understanding of plant operations, control procedures and be competent in using Safe Systems of Work as per the Safety Rules.

- Familiar with computerised maintenance management systems, preferably Maximo.

- Familiar with inspection, testing and maintenance techniques.

- Excellent communication skills with great interpersonal and relationship building skills.

- Ability to problem solve and work independently.

- Ability to logically troubleshoot equipment defects and propose technical solutions.
