Base Location: Wiltshire (Swindon, Melksham, Andover) and Thames Valley (Buckinghamshire/West London)

Salary: £44,195 - £50,611 (depending on skills and experience) + car/car allowance + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time, 37 Hours | Flexible Working options available

We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our team!

As an Electrical Design Engineer with SSE you'll produce a co-ordinated and coherent detailed design for new overhead line schemes, network refurbishment, plant replacement and network alteration on the LV to 33kV networks.

This will include planning, managing, monitoring and co-ordination of health and safety in the pre-construction phase.

You'll also ensure the network is constructed robustly and cost effectively whilst eliminating health and safety risks in the design and financial risks during construction.

Finally, you'll liaise with customers, land agents, local authorities and SSE colleagues to achieve a fit for purpose design.

What do I need?

You'll need to have:

- Knowledge of CDM regulations and experience of working with the NRSWA code of practice.

- Knowledge and experience in the design/construction of new cable routes, new overhead lines, network refurbishment, plant replacement and alteration's on the LV to 33kV networks.

- A minimum of HNC or equivalent is required.

- Organisational skills and the ability to work quickly, accurately and independently whilst under pressure.

- You'll have strong negotiation and influencing skills, excellent written and oral communication and a willingness to develop and assist other team members while making innovative and effective business improvements.

Regular travel is required and as a result we can only accept applications from candidates that hold a current driving licence.

About the Department

Our SSEN Distribution Asset Management team consists of Asset Risk Management and Equipment Specification. They are involved in running a programme of projects exploring new technologies and commercial arrangements across network activities and identifying practical solutions. They are also involved in operating some of the new solutions that have been developed by the innovation team. The project portfolio is predominantly funded by the Low Carbon Network Fund or the Network Innovation Allowance which requires considerable management and governance to ensure compliance.
