Job Details

AWE is looking for an Electrical Maintenance Engineers to support with a wide range of challenging projects and electrical maintenance work within the Orion Laser Facility.
Working within our Craft Engineering Team, this role will give you the opportunity to carry out a variety of planned and reactive electrical maintenance activities on cutting edge scientific field equipment. This can include electrical design, installation, repairs, replacements, electrical distribution testing and modifications.
This role also gives excellent opportunities for career development into more senior engineering roles in the future.

On a daily basis, you will apply and hone your trade skills, working in accordance with task instructions in a safe and effective manner. This may include carrying out rectification of faults and maintenance on specialist field equipment as well as legislative maintenance on electrical distribution systems.
You will have the opportunity to:
Contribute to the delivery of conceptual designs, detail designs and manufacturing specifications
Support the team with major and minor maintenance work
Carry out electrical regulatory maintenance
Organise personal training and identify development opportunities
Carry out safety related roles
Expand your role into the Control and Instrumentation field if desired
Not to be considered a checklist, candidates would benefit from knowledge/experience of ANY of the following:
Experience using CAD and the ability to interpret engineering drawings
Strong electrical background
Experience testing installations and systems (C&G 2391 / 2377)
Electrical Distribution knowledge / BS7671 18th Edition qualification
Good appreciation of safe systems of work
Conversant with PLCs and SCADA experience
Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate the following qualifications:
Engineering Apprenticeship NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in relevant discipline or NVQ/Diploma Level 2 plus industrial experience
A recognised relevant qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC or BTEC Level 3
All Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
