By joining us, you will do work that matters. With a diverse, global network serving customers in more than 160 countries, we create new solutions — across the spectrum of health, around the world, for all stages of life. Whether it’s next-generation diagnostics, life-changing devices, science-based nutrition, or novel reformulations, we are advancing some of the most innovative and revolutionary technologies in healthcare, helping people live their best lives through better health.

World Leader in Glucose Monitoring, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and hospital settings. We have a Centre of Excellence in Witney for the development and manufacture of electrodes and biosensors used by patients and healthcare professionals for the day-to-day management of diabetes. The site has been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System as well as exciting developments in the Libre family including FreeStyle Libre 2, FreeStyle Libre 3 and the Libre Sense system. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people’s lives.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Design Engineer to work alongside other design, electrical and controls engineers within the Development Engineering group of R&D. This position will see you working on the latest sensors and manufacturing processes by providing innovative designs for products and the equipment that manufactures them. The equipment will range from proof of principle rigs for R&D use to the fully automated production equipment used in Manufacturing. Therefore, the applicant should be experienced in specifying and designing machines incorporating the latest process, inspection and controls systems. Alongside the provision of equipment and sensor designs, you will support the commissioning, characterisation and optimisation of the machines as well as the generation of manuals and regulatory documentation to support UKCA/CE marking.

Whilst providing your technical expertise to these projects, we’re also looking for this person to lead a small team alongside similar teams within the department . This position will then oversee their day to day activities, as well as provide developmental guidance and line management.

To be successful, you will need a formal qualification such as a HNC, HND or degree in an Engineering discipline. You will also need to be able to demonstrate a proven track record and significant experience in automated production equipment design, working alone or as part of a team. Expertise using 3D CAD coupled with a drawing management system is essential, with AutoDESK Inventor being preferred.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in a regulated environment such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals or healthcare. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual, able to manage a multitude of interrelated activities with varying priorities, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment. You’ll need to demonstrate the ability to identify opportunities and propose ideas, as well as inspiring and nurturing these within your team.

In addition to a competitive salary, Abbott offers a highly attractive benefits package which includes a defined-contribution pension scheme, a share ownership scheme, private healthcare, life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme which you can tailor to your own requirements. Of course, things are a little different right now, but in general, we like to help our employees live life to the fullest, and therefore we offer a range of optional initiatives for you to get involved in, including onsite allotments, couch to 5k campaigns, bee keeping, yoga and more!

An equal opportunity employer - Abbott welcomes and encourages diversity in our workforce.

We politely request that agencies do not make contact in relation to this opportunity.
