Location: Daresbury Laboratory, Daresbury, Cheshire
Due to the requirement of obtaining an enhanced security clearance for this role, we are only able to accept applications from persons who have been resident in the UK for the last 5 years. We cannot sponsor visa applications for this role.

We are seeking a talented Infrastructure Engineer to join our Digital Infrastructure team. If you have a passion for science and want to make a significant impact in a diverse department at the heart of UK accelerator science, this is the role for you.

The role has a broad technical remit and would suit a pragmatic problem solver with an interest in technologies and science. You will have the benefit of guidance and support from senior Engineers.
If you have an aptitude and desire to progress in your career with STFC, you may benefit from appropriate training opportunities including degree apprenticeships (after a qualifying period).
Key Responsibilities:
• Support Linux and Windows OS systems
• Manage physical and virtual environments
• Administer backup and recovery services
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation related to the IT infrastructure
Person Specification:
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
We highly value the following skills; demonstrable experience is required in the majority of the following:
Linux server and desktop support
Windows Domain Administration
Understanding of Server Hardware – Specifications, Setup and Administration
Virtualisation and Hypervisor Installation and Administration
Network Storage Solutions - Specifications, Setup and Administration
System Monitoring
Patch Management
IT Support at 1st, 2nd, 3rd Line
Experience in Project Management
