Salary: Circa £55,000 (depending on experience)

The opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced Communications Network Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the integration of communications network aspects of our Weapon Systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate operation of the network(s) prior to full system integration and acceptance, thereby speeding up the weapon system integration and set to work processes.
You will be the key point of contact for the Project team on resolving issues associated with communications and network integration. You will also be responsible for providing a network diagnostic capability for a range of network technologies using different diagnostic/analysis tools.
The successful candidate will also support the integration of weapon systems into our customers' platforms and networks during commissioning, test, and acceptance.
What we are looking for from you:
Essential:
- •Communications network practitioner experienced across all layers of the OSI model.
- •Experience supporting wired and wireless networks, firewall administration, designing and implementing LAN/WAN architectures, and network implementation and commissioning.
- •Significant experience in investigating network issues, including fault finding, diagnosing root cause of issues, and determining appropriate resolution of identified issues.
- •Excellent analytical and report writing skills, with experience of researching, evaluating, and recommending solutions to issues.
- •Understanding of communication security architectures and equipment.
- •Proven understanding and awareness of communication protocols, specifically switching, routing, and security-related protocols.
- •Organized, enthusiastic, pro-active, and motivated self-starter.
- •Ability to adapt to changing priorities, program needs, and tasks.
- •Good interpersonal skills.
- •Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
- •Relevant Engineering or Science-based Degree (or equivalent).
Desirable:
- •CCNA Routers & Switches / CCNA Sec (preferably CCNP).
- •ITIL best practice.
- •Experience in a variety of interfaces and protocols (Ethernet, 1553, 1394, DDS).
- •Experience with network equipment from multiple vendors and the automation of tasks using scripting tools would be advantageous.
- •Ability to plan, control, and deliver projects or work packages.
