Salary: £32,600 - £48,800 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

SSEN Transmission has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Protection & Control Project Engineer to provide support within our multi-disciplinary Project Engineering team who work on a wide range of projects as we strive towards net zero.

The key duties & responsibilities will be:
- Support the team with the preparation of technical engineering designs, documents or assessments for our projects, and the evaluation of third-party detailed designs.
- Proactively undertake work-based and academic training and development, to develop the skills and technical competencies required to fulfil the eventual role of Protection & Control Project Engineer.
- Assist with preparation of Protection & Control engineering calculations and setting up our protection relays to safely protect our Transmission network.
- Take responsibility for delivering required outputs to programme and participate in the development of our digital design capabilities.
- Occasional travel and work away from home within the UK to attend substation sites and protection equipment factory acceptance tests.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- This role would suit a newly graduated engineer or an engineer with experience of working within a client or contracting organisation within the UK electricity supply industry that is looking to expand their skills into the Protection & Control specialism.
- Qualified to a minimum of HNC level in Electrical and/or Electronic engineering.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
- An understanding of the UK electricity power system and the components within is essential. An understanding of how power systems are protected would be advantageous.
- The ability to demonstrate engineering diligence and the confidence to technically assess problems and critically assess a range of solutions.
