If you enjoy working with your hands and you are looking for a new challenge, then this could be the role you are looking for. We are recruiting for a Safety Shift Mechanical Craft Practitioner to carry out a wide range of planned, predictive, and reactive mechanical maintenance activities.

Location - Reading area.

Package - £27,420 - £39,060 subject to skills and experience, plus a shift allowance (equating to approximately 33.33%) and other allowances.

Responsibilities:

On a day-to-day basis, the safety shift team will be responsible for the routine Inspections of critical safety systems, responding to and coordinating site emergencies and carrying out routine and reactive maintenance.

The maintenance work will include an implementing condition-based monitoring techniques on plant, undertaking legislative planned maintenance (such as PSSR, LOLER) all while working to risk assessment and method statements.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Performing routine maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment

  • Troubleshooting and fault rectification mechanical issues

  • Installing and upgrading mechanical systems and equipment

  • Being part of an on-call team within the shift team

  • Testing and inspecting mechanical systems and equipment

  • Keeping accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed

  • Following all safety procedures and regulations

Though not to be considered a check list, candidates would benefit from knowledge/experience of ANY of the following:

  • Planned, predictive and reactive maintenance on commercial systems (HVAC, VA, ultrasound)

  • Adhering to a strong safety culture and working to industry standards

  • Previous experience in a building, plant, or manufacturing environment

Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Engineering Apprenticeship NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in relevant discipline or NVQ/Diploma Level 2 plus industrial experience

  • A recognised relevant qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC or BTEC Level 3

The following are desired not essential:

  • Previous experience carrying out a safety shift role

  • CBM training or experience

  • Relevant bearing training and experience

  • Steam and condensate training and experience

  • Swagelok or other pipework training and experience

All Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
