About the Role

Base Location: Medway Power Station

Salary: £51,600 - £77,400 + performance related bonus of up to 15% + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Lead Mechanical Engineer/Lead Balance of Plant Engineer will build an inclusive and high performing team, with responsibility for the management of the power station Balance of Plant assets including Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSGs), steam systems, cooling towers and pumps.

In addition to leading the Balance of Plant team, some of your other main responsibilities will include;

-Technical governance, guidance and industry best practice including compliance with the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) and statutory inspections.

-Delivery of an effective outage strategy and management of projects, optimising the planned maintenance strategy to meet with the needs of our stakeholders to maximise reliability and minimised plant downtime.

-Budget ownership and contract management of key strategic suppliers and management of our primary mechanical contract partners.

- Provide technical expertise and advice to other departments in relation to mechanical engineering, with emphasis on maximising efficiency, plant performance and safety.

These accountabilities are in relation to the mechanical Balance of Plant assets of the power station.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

-Excellent communication skills are essential and ability to successfully manage teams.

-Educated to degree level or equivalent in a mechanical engineering discipline or similar.

-Experience within a similar role in the electricity, or a equivalent engineering industry and experience of working with HRSGs and PSSR would be advantageous.

-Extensive mechanical engineering knowledge, familiar with the types of systems and equipment used in power generation.

-Have good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and regulations in relation to mechanical systems.

-A passion for safety and successful delivery against key stakeholder requirements.
