AWE is looking for a Control System Electrical Engineer to support with a wide range of challenging projects and electrical maintenance work within the Orion Laser Facility.
Working within our Craft Engineering Team, this role will give you the opportunity to carry out a variety of planned and reactive electrical maintenance activities on cutting edge scientific field equipment. This can include electrical design, installation, repairs, replacements, electrical distribution testing and modifications.
This role also gives excellent opportunities for career development into more senior engineering roles in the future.

Salary - £27,420 - £36,000 (dependent on experience) + allowance

Working within our Orion Engineering team as a Control Systems Electrical Engineer will give you the opportunity to carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance activities on installed equipment on one of the most powerful laser facilities in the world.
Alongside maintenance tasks you will also have the chance to broaden your experience by contributing to electrical/control design projects, assisting the Technical Lead and Senior Engineer in scoping, planning and estimating future activities and have the freedom to pursue personal training and development under the guidance of a technical mentor.
On a day to day basis, you will apply and hone your trade skills, working in accordance with task instructions in a safe and effective manner.
Though not to be considered a check list, candidates would benefit from knowledge/experience of ANY of the following:
Fault finding techniques and methodologies
Supervisory experience
Previous experience in a building, plant or manufacturing environment
Experience using CAD and the ability to interpret engineering drawings
Experience testing installations and systems (C&G 2391/ 2377)
Electrical Distribution knowledge / BS7671 18th Edition qualification
Good appreciation of safe systems of work
PLC and SCADA experience desired
Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate the following qualifications:
Engineering Apprenticeship NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in relevant discipline or NVQ/Diploma Level 2 plus industrial experience
A recognised relevant qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC or BTEC Level 3
Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
