Starting Salary: £42,501 / £48,336 with the opportunity to earn: £44,574 / £50,810 + an annual company bonus of up to £4k.
Working Pattern: Days  (37.5 hours per week, typical
hours are 07:30 – 15:40 or 08:10 – 16:20)
Location: Sellafield, West Cumbria

Maintenance Engineers:

Maintenance Engineers provide a front-line maintenance support service to improve and maintain the effectiveness of the plant/facility and decrease the mean time to repair.

Principle Accountabilities Include:

  • Deliver frontline support to the Maintenance Teams for routine, emergent and outage activities, to enable the efficient delivery of business objectives.
  • Review Maintenance Instructions and plant / facility drawings through liaison with local technical experts to ensure that any modifications are included to ensure technical accuracy.
  • Effectively organise work for the maintenance craft team members preparing work packages for the one-off maintenance activities (outside of the work planning process) to allow prompt delivery of work.
  • Support the preparation of and deliver the appropriate technical content required to raise Plant Modification Proposals, following the recognised formal process for the plant/facility.
  • Coach and mentor the site maintenance standards to ensure that the standards and guidance are adhered to ensure safe operations and maintenance activities.
  • Comply with appropriate regulations, standards and policies and carries responsibility for safety, cost and quality standards applicable to their teams.
  • Support the delivery of the contracted work within the plant/facility to agreed standards, expectations and time.
  • Identify plant problems (especially recurring issues) and co-ordinate appropriate corrective maintenance actions with supervision from Line Management.
  • Support internal investigations to identify root cause and share learning from experience to ensure best practice and understanding.
  • Confirm specification requirements (typically with Plant Engineer) of equipment and then liaison with procurement representatives to ensure the availability of the correct equipment and spares, required to enable the reduction of return to service times.

The Ideal Candidate: We’re looking for people that have good knowledge in Engineering, whether this may be through direct experience, or through transferable skills.

Essential Skills:

  • Higher level qualification or equivalent training/experience in an Engineering/Maintenance discipline.
  • Demonstrable understanding and application of Equipment Reliability processes or provision of support to front line maintenance delivery.
  • Demonstrable experience of ensuring / improving plant and equipment reliability and availability.
  • Demonstrable experience of acting as a subject matter expert for both internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable Skills:

  • Chartered / Incorporated Engineer status or potential to achieve with an accredited professional institute.
  • Engineering qualification and experience in Engineering/Maintenance role or an environment of similar context and complexity.
  • Demonstrable evidence of acting as a role model to promote and challenge behaviours and change.
  • Demonstrable evidence of complying with appropriate regulations, standards and policies.
