Electrical Engineer (EN-EL-EPM-2023-133-GRAP)

Your responsibilities

As an Electrical Engineer you will join the EN-EL-EPM team to work on the NACONS and HI-ECN3 projects, whose scope is respectively the consolidation of the North Area (one of the largest experimental areas at CERN) and the installation of a new experimental facility in the same complex. You will support the project management and engineering team on the study, execution and coordination of the whole electrical work package. The scope of the projects covers a wide range of medium and low voltage systems and equipment aimed to supply the accelerator and experimental facilities, and the control and DC cabling.

The role includes technical and organizational tasks:

• Identify needs and requirements from users, supporting them
• Participate in site surveys
• Prepare studies and cost estimations
• Procurement of material and services
• Follow up of on site works up to commissioning and handover to Operations
• Preparation of project documents (reports, change requests, specifications, etc)
• Budget follow up and cost analysis
• Follow up on schedule (master planning and execution planning)
• Development of quality plans and documents
• Participation to project and coordination meetings

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

• Excellent team-working attitude
• A previous professional experience in the electrical domain, with a focus on electrical power distribution, could be considered an asset
• Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

• You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
• You have a professional background in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (or a related field) and have either:
  • a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;
  • or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.
• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

This position requires:

• Work in Radiation Areas.
• Interventions in underground installations.
• A valid driving licence.
• Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.

• A monthly stipend ranging between 6194 and 6808 Swiss Francs per month (net of tax).

• Depending on your individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the beginning and end of contract.
• 30 days of paid leave per year.
