Salary: £53,100 - £79,700 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

SSE Thermal are recruiting Cyber Security Engineers across 2 of our main sites at Medway and Keadby.
The Cyber Security Engineer role encompasses the delivery of a digital asset alongside the physical asset at each power station, supporting delivery of the business asset management objectives. With a particular emphasis on cyber security, you will help protect and develop our people, premises, and digital systems to support our NetZero ambitions as a Thermal business.
Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will be the primary contact for Operational Technology (OT) Cyber Security and the site lead for digital projects/improvements, providing concise communication to all stakeholders and support delivery of value adding projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the OT Security team within Thermal Engineering and Asset Management (TEAM), ensure Operational Technology assets compliance to the Network and Information Systems regulations.
- Application of the Thermal OT risk Management process to the assigned OT assets.
- Awareness of vulnerabilities on OT assets assigned and mitigation thereof (operating system, control system applications and down to controller (PLC) level).
- Maintenance of the OT asset register and updating of the security products associated with the OT assets on site.
- Establishment and implementation of Incident Response Plans on stations OT assets.
- Implementation of Disaster Recovery plans on station for the given OT assets with regular testing and exercising of those plans.
- Development of OT improvement and obsolescence management plan in conjunction with station control and instrumentation engineers and Thermal Engineering and Aset Management.
- Collaboration on site with all stakeholders to ensure the station and operations business can define and engage fully in the digital strategy of SSE Thermal.
- Working with stakeholders both on station and external for implementation of digital tools and techniques on site to deliver on SSE Thermal's digital vision.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Relevant Degree (i.e. OT, IT or Computing, Process Controls) or equivalent experience.
- Experience of Cyber-Security/Digital Engineering in an Operational environment, preferably within the Energy industry.
- Understanding of the application of digital technology in a power station / engineering environment to enhance reliability and availability.
- Thorough understanding of the regulatory requirements for OT cyber security and ability to translate those requirements into physical deliverables on site.
- Experience of developing counter measures and contingency plans associated with significant delivery risk.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to identify and manage key stakeholders.
- Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) focused, you'll need to be curious, interested, and proactive.
