Our successful collaboration with a Central Government customer has been asked to expand and deliver even more. It is a very high profile programme of work, building new digital services for securing the UK borders. We are looking for additional Solution Architects to be part of that the success.
As a Solution Architect you’ll be working to own the solution design and engineering methods of our client's core mission applications, defining innovative solutions to problems, underpinned by robust delivery and engineering methods to deliver capabilities that are not only essential to their business, but they’ll love to use.
You’ll enjoy working as part of a scrum team, with other architects, scrum masters, engineers and business analysts to get the best out of the team, allowing everyone to contribute their skillsets. You will be an excellent communicator both internally within your project/scrum team, as well as externally to senior customer stakeholders to facilitate decision making and co-ordinate design activities with related teams.
The solution comprises of a data ingest platform/pipeline which has been designed/implemented based on a number Java micro-services integrated with each other using Managed Streaming Kafka, (MSK) topics to receive, standardise transform and store all messages received in an AWS Aurora (AWS PostgreSQL) database. Tasks are created and presented to users in a ReactJS UI from transformed messages that trigger any rules in the Risk assessment service designed/implemented based on Drools Rules Engine and Elastic Search. A number of ReactJS UI screens gives users access to search and process data stored in Elastic Search and the AWS Aurora (AWS PostgreSQL) database. The application components/services are deployed using a CI/CD pipeline to a Kubernetes containerised platform running in AWS.

About you
This is a hybrid role and while work can be undertaken from home, it is expected that there will be some regular travel to client site in London.
You will have experience in the majority of the following:
- Shaping and defining solutions
- Retaining overall ownership of solution through delivery and transition into operation
- Defining infrastructure requirements for a software solution to support a scalable and resilient application
- Ensuring the design meets key functional and non-functional requirements, enabling through life scenarios of the solution to be satisfied
- Overseeing the implementation of the design in collaboration with other team members such as Application, Data and Security Architects
- Working with customer technical authorities to ensure that they have a clear understanding of the architecture and design proposals at an appropriate level
- Working with the Engineering Manager and Scrum teams to promote good practice in engineering methods, eg development, automation and testing
And will have applied it in some of the following domains:
- Big Data solutions
- Web Scale applications for the Cloud
- Open Source and COTS integration
- Integration patterns and architectures
- Workflow systems
- Messaging/queuing systems
