Quality Manager (Tooling Quality)

Location - Reading / Basingstoke Area

Salary - £41,840 - £55,000 (depending on suitability to the role)

Successful Candidates will report to the Senior Quality Manager, and be responsible for Managing and Leading the Tooling Quality Team/s. Duties will include:

  • Planning and managing Quality resource within the area they represent.
  • Provide specialist expertise in the application and deployment of Quality tools and metrics within their represented area.
  • Provision of technical review and guidance.
  • Training and development requirements of the team.
  • Leading subject matter expertise in the fields pertinent to their role within Quality.
  • Lead and develop a technical multi-functional team to resolve problems when required by the area they represent.
  • Maintenance and enhancement of staff and own skills, knowledge, and capabilities necessary to support both current and future work programmes. Identify training to promote continuous improvement and enhancement of capability.
  • Plan and deliver technical assessments using appropriate methodologies and contributing to capability development.
  • Ensure that Quality is delivered through AWE behaviours and that a right first time every time culture is sustained.
  • Lead a team in all Quality related activities and ensure staff are adequately trained and practised in the task.
  • Promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality and be a great team player.
  • Attend design/technical/task/defect reviews, and stakeholder meetings as required to ensure Quality is represented.
  • Responsible for inspection & calibration reporting.
  • Engagement with relevant stakeholders across AWE, the UK and our international partners.

Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates should be able to demonstrate some of the following:

  • Qualification in a relevant subject and/or a suitable vocational qualification (HNC or higher/equivalent). Experience in a quality-related role.
  • A proven track record of influencing and engaging at all levels.
  • A Data Driven approach.
  • Quality management systems, processes, procedures, and other supporting documentation.
  • Able to demonstrate ability to lead, monitor, supervise and mentor a group of employees to achieve goals that contribute to the growth of the organisation.
  • Examples of motivational behaviours that inspire teams by creating an environment that promotes positive communication, encourages bonding of team members, and demonstrates flexibility.
  • Proven Leadership experience of a team working in a Quality Environment.
  • Able to structure and measure achievable team targets, and provision of coaching, training, and support.
  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, and/or engineering environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • A good understanding of metrology.
  • Computer literate - with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015).
  • Abe to lead on problem-solving, developing systems, and improving business performance.
  • Ability to promote team working culture and the effectiveness of teams.
  • Demonstrate Leadership qualities to drive improvements within a team.
  • Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence experience beneficial.
