Job Details
Salary: Circa £50,000 to £65,000 depending on experience

The opportunity! Software Engineer
We have a great opportunity for a proactive and passionate Software Engineer to join our Simulation Software team in Stevenage, to be at the forefront of something new and innovative! You will have a direct impact on shaping the product and its future success. As an early member, you will have high visibility and the opportunity to build significant influence within the team and company.
The department provides a real-time environment, running simulations of the sub-systems to test the operation of the unit under test. The new product will allow the development of the simulations for existing and future projects.
You will be working within a collaborative, versatile, innovative team and surrounded by supportive and passionate team members.
What we're looking for from you:
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their experience / knowledge in the following areas:
- You will have proven Software Development experience (modern C++) in a Linux Environment
- A good practical knowledge of Multi-Threading, Design Patterns, SOLID principles and OOP
- Familiarity with modern software testing and deployment practices such as TDD & CI/CD
- Are you comfortable with all aspects of the software development lifecycle (planning, analysis, design, implementation, testing and deployment, maintenance)
- An understanding of networking technologies, protocols e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, multicast and security principles
Desirable experience:
- Experience with other OO languages such as C#, Java and / or Python
- Modelling language; preferably UML
- Experience of working on complex, distributed systems with Containerisation, including a knowledge of Kubernetes / Docker
- It would be great to have some experience with Linux Kernel, Cryptography
- You have worked within an agile development environment:
- C++, GoogleTest, gRPC, CMake, Visual Studio, .NET 7/8
- Jira, Gitlab, Gitlab CI, Docker, Kubernetes, Artifactory
- Previously mentored and supported less experienced members of a team.
