About the Role

Base Location: Flexible Scotland | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices or depots in the Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution (SHEPD) licensed area.

Salary: £39,415 - £45,136 + car allowance + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Flexible First options available

Our Workforce Planning Team is responsible for the succession planning, recruitment management and assessment of Learners within the Distribution Business. As a Multi-skilled craft assessor, you will:

- Deliver an excellent learning journey to our apprentices and enable them to grow and gain the knowledge, skills, experience and behaviours to successfully achieve completion of their apprenticeship programme.

- Monitor and support the Overhead lines and Jointing apprentices to ensure that they have obtained and demonstrated the successful completion of their programme, this will include both onsite practical assessments and reviewing evidence remotely via our online portfolio system.

- Provide support and technical knowledge to the apprentices to ensure safe operational working.

- Have the potential to hold line manager responsibilities and support the Network Learner Team Managers with activities such as managing performance.

What do I need?

We are looking for somebody that has a passion to develop our learners to become the next generation of safe, competent and knowledgeable employees. To be considered for this role, we are looking for you to have:

- Experience working on Overhead Lines and/or Underground cable Jointing as a qualified multi-skilled craftsperson, with a proven track record of working to a safe and high standard in OHL and Jointing both LV and HV.

- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively at all levels, having the ability to motivate, not just the learners but other key stakeholders.

- The ability to mentor and coach apprentices, encouraging them to strive for continual improvements in quality and performance.

- Good IT knowledge including Word and Excel.

- Ability to support with SHEPD area site visits and occasional travel to England to various team events and providing support when required.

- An A1 Assessors qualification would be beneficial, however training will be given to enable you to complete your level 3 TAQA certificate in assessing if required.
