About the Role

Base Location: We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSEN offices at Reading, Oxford, Swindon, Bristol or Melksham

Salary: £45,400 - £68,200 + car / car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

We're expanding our Large Capital Delivery teams with a new Lead Design Engineer for our £4bn RIIO ED2 business plan in SEPD Distribution areas. You'll manage the connections design team handling 11kV to 132kV projects, ensuring cost-effective solutions through detailed design packs and approvals. Your responsibilities will include;

- Project design management, resource coordination, quality control of design outputs following SSEN policies, and approving designs for efficiency.

- Driving productivity and customer service excellence, managing daily design team operations, optimising costs, and improving contractor performance.

- Identifying improvements, setting performance targets, and managing KPIs within the larger Engineering Design team.

What will I need?

- Electrical Design degree (preferred), or HNC with relevant experience.

- Strong people management skills (40-50%).

- Engineering design expertise, and proficiency in design governance and CDM.

- You should be able to deliver quality work on tight schedules, excel in teamwork, and possess excellent negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
