If you enjoy working with your hands and you are looking for a new challenge, then this could be the role you are looking for. We are recruiting for a Safety Shift Electrical Maintainer to carry out a wide range of planned, predictive, and reactive electrical maintenance activities.
While working at AWE you can expect to work on systems such as; LV electrical distribution, pumps, generators, ventilation, UPS systems.
The shift role will require a successful candidate to work a 4-On-4-Off pattern with 12 hour shift rotating between day and night shifts. This could include some Bank Holidays and sometimes the Christmas period.
Location - Reading area.
Package - £27,420 - £39,060 subject to skills and experience, plus a 33% shift allowance and other allowances INCLUDING a £5316 high hazard allowance

Responsibilities:
On a day-to-day basis, the safety shift team will be responsible for the routine Inspections of critical safety systems, responding to and coordinating site emergencies and carrying out routine and reactive maintenance.
The maintenance work will include Periodic testing of electrical distribution systems, emergency lighting maintenance, testing of lightning protection systems and repair of lighting and small power on LV equipment.
Key accountabilities will include:
Performing routine maintenance on electrical systems and equipment
Troubleshooting and fault rectification of electrical issues
Installing and upgrading electrical systems and equipment
Being part of an on-call team within the shift team
Testing and inspecting electrical systems and equipment
Keeping accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed
Following all safety procedures and regulations
Forming part of the Safety Shift team in response to incidents and emergencies on site.
Though not to be considered a check list, candidates would benefit from knowledge/experience of ANY of the following:
Planned, predictive and reactive maintenance on commercial systems
Adhering to a strong safety culture and working to industry standards
Previous experience in a building, plant, or manufacturing environment
Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate the following qualifications:
Engineering Apprenticeship NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in relevant discipline or NVQ/Diploma Level 2 plus industrial experience
A recognised relevant qualification such as City & Guilds, ONC or BTEC Level 3
Valid UK driving licence
The following are desired not essential:
Previous experience of Shift working
CBM training or experience
Experience in periodic inspection and testing (C&G 2391 or equivalent)
Experience in fault finding and rectification on commercial and industrial systems
Experience in emergency response activities
All Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas.
