Job Details
Raytheon UK is seeking a skilled and high-performing Electronics Design Engineer to join our successful Assured Position, Navigation, and Timing (APNT) team within the Global Sensors Mission Area. In this role, you'll contribute to the creation of Digital GPS Anti-Jam Systems for the military market. The position is based at Raytheon's Harlow facility, offering a hybrid working split, and the successful candidate will report directly to the APNT Digital Hardware Engineering Lead.
Main Duties:
As a Hardware/Firmware Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in a dynamic team, making your mark on a broad range of product designs. You will be involved in the integration of these designs into products, serving as the focal point for the complete system. Your responsibilities will include:
- Schematic generation, PCB design, component selection, evaluation, and verification.
- Collaboration with system engineers on architectures of electronic subsystems.
- Development of requirements to ensure compliance with relevant standards.
- Collaboration with embedded software engineers and mechanical engineers.
- Generation of supporting design documentation and regular technical reviews.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
- Experience with embedded digital electronics and microprocessor systems.
- Experience working with FPGAs and SoC technologies.
- VHDL programming language for Xilinx or Microsemi FPGAs.
- Experience taking prototypes to production hardware.
- PCB design in conformance with defense engineering standards/airborne standards.
- Design experience for manufacture.
- Clear and concise presentation of technical information.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Openness to learn and adopt new techniques.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment, working independently or collaboratively.
- Analyzing and reporting on technical data.
- Eligible or holder of current SC security clearance.
Desirable:
- Experience with the Xilinx chip family.
- Familiarity with a systems engineering approach across the design and development life cycle.
- Experience with Mentor Xpedition PCB design tool and SPICE.
- Experience creating DO254 compliant electronic systems.
- Working with Model Based System Engineering tools such as Simulink.
- APNT systems domain knowledge and/or experience in a similar field.
- Understanding of environmental requirements (shock, vibration, EMC, etc.) and experience applying and testing for these requirements.
