Job Details
AWE are looking for a Diagnostic Technician to join our Engineering operations team. The role will see you responsible for setting up, testing, and fielding a range of scientific equipment on hydrodynamic trials & capturing high quality data. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in building and testing new diagnostic equipment, working alongside our incredibly knowledgeable Scientists and Engineers. Package: £35,720 - £50,000 per annum

The Role?
· Operating various data acquisition systems on hydrodynamic trials, such as high channel count digitiser systems, optical velocimetry systems and streak & framing imaging systems.
· Building and testing different probe assemblies and cables to customer specification
· Performing maintenance on existing equipment for upcoming trials
· Testing and operating high voltage initiation & lighting systems
· Fault Finding equipment which may break during routine maintenance or trial exposure
· Researching, designing, building and testing new recording systems for future trials
· Working with the Electronic Lab team to help use and maintain high voltage and high-speed imaging systems.
· Supporting teams, onsite and offsite, at various trials
· Undertaking work in compliance with company processes, standards, and procedures
· Maintaining high levels of housekeeping within the Lab environment
· May be required to carry out additional safety related roles
What will you need to be considered for this role?
Ideally you will have experience in using data capture hardware and electronics test equipment and be able to show aptitude in fault-finding and problem solving. A sound approach to electrical & laser safety is essential. Knowledge of fibre optics, lasers & working with high voltages would be beneficial, although full training will be provided. In addition, the successful candidate should have the following:
· Attention to detail
· A willingness to learn
· Strong communication skills (written and oral)
· Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
· Good working knowledge of MS programmes
