The Role?
The Trials & Test Group are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to work with a mixed discipline electrical & electronic team within the Orion laser facility.
The role is to Supervise and oversee the routine maintenance activity and operation of the lasers main Pulsed Power System.
This would be a good opportunity for someone with experience working on complex systems, fault diagnosis and repair of HV, LV, electronic, pneumatic and mechanical components having worked in a similar sector; Utilities, Renewables, FMCG, Manufacturing or Facilities, who can implement best practice and help to coach & mentor junior members of the team in technical techniques.
Knowledge of Pulsed Power or high voltage systems is not essential as full training will be provided.
Whilst not to be considered a check list, candidates would also benefit from knowledge of ANY of the following:
- Verifying compliance with electrical and construction safety regulations (e.g. In service Inspection and Test (PAT), BS7671 18th Edition, City and Guilds 2391).
- Previous Electrical Safety Appointment LV/HV Authorised Person
- High Voltage Systems
- Planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Recording and analyses of test data
- Preparing documentation, writing reports and giving presentations
To be considered for the role you would ideally be time served Electrician or Electrical Engineer, hold an electrical qualification level 3-5 or similar engineering discipline with proven experience in a similar environment. This role will involve mentoring and supervisor junior members of the team and require you to take on an electrical safety appointment. Full training on the specialist system will be provided however, we are seeking an experienced maintainer.
