Starting Salary: £40,606 – £69,636 depending on experience
Bonus: Up to either 10% or 15% base salary per annum based on achievement of Company targets and personal performance.
Safety Cases form the backbone of nuclear safety at Sellafield, helping develop safe solutions for projects and maintain safe conditions on our facilities.
The Safety Case is not only a fundamental requirement of our licence to operate, but essential in our understanding of hazards and safety controls.
Safety Case professionals work on projects and facilities site-wide and through the full facility lifecycle from design, through operations, to decommissioning and demolition. They are responsible for not only understanding and analysing the nuclear hazards and risks that could occur but identifying how safety can be managed and ensuring robust controls are implemented in practice.

The role of a Safety Assessor is to provide safety assessment advice and supporting documentation to all areas of the Sellafield Ltd Business in a fit for purpose, proportionate manner in line with the expectations set in the SL Safety Case Process arrangements.
Proactively seeking and sharing relevant learning, as well as identifying and implementing potential improvement opportunities are expectations of the role.
We are looking for Safety Assessors of all experience levels (entry point in to the company will reflect experience levels) and covering all disciplines (Radiological, Criticality, Dose and Shielding, Nuclear Fire).
Typical tasks undertaken by Safety Assessors include, but not limited to:
• Delivering safety assessments advice and documentation, supporting the development of hazard management strategies, contributing to the development of safe solutions, leading hazard identification studies.
• Undertaking appropriate verification of safety assessments and supporting documentation.
• Coordinating the delivery of and providing day to day oversight of specified safety assessment resources.
• Providing support to the enterprise-wide Safety Cases Profession activities.
• Implementing the standards and expectations of the Safety Cases Profession.
The Ideal Candidate:
• A degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or STEM related subject.
• Experience in to building relationships and engaging collaboratively and effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
• Ability to solve complex, multi-dimensional problems.
• Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
• Excellent report writing, written and verbal communication skills.
An experienced candidate would have:
• Experience in application of safety case processes, methodologies, and tools proportionately and effectively.
• Experience in influencing and lead the day-to-day delivery of nuclear safety professionals in the delivery of integrated nuclear safety cases and underpinning assessments.
