About the Role

Base Location: Perth

Salary: £44,195 - £56,757 depending on experience + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

What is the Role?

Are you a skilled technical expert with a passion for results in a dynamic operational environment?

Join us at SSE Renewables as an Operations Systems Engineer and play a pivotal role in driving excellence in our renewable energy operations.

This role ensures that all systems associated with the centralised 24/7 operations of our Onshore Wind, Solar & Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are maintained to the highest levels of service availability. You will be responsible for all interfaces with the specialist support teams in areas such as Information Technology, Operational Technology and Voice and Data Telecoms.

As our Operations Systems Engineer, you will:

- Assist in the development of processes to improve efficiency and delivery in line with the security and resilience standards required for 24/7 operations.

- Be the first line of support for operational systems during office hours and assist with fault/defect rectification, liaising with other departments as required.

- Work with project teams to facilitate new project integration and commissioning.

- Assist in the definition, configuration, commissioning, and documentation of changes to all operational systems.

- Perform analysis of control room systems to report performance.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would seek candidates with:

- Strong analytical skills, a high level of expertise and aptitude for IT systems / applications is essential.

- The ability to identify and implement innovative and effective business improvements.

- Experience of databases, SQL and Visual Basic desirable.

- Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team with good communication skills both verbal and written.

- Experience in an operational, maintenance or construction environment within the operational OT systems is beneficial.

- Working knowledge of SCADA / control room systems with an awareness of basic trading requirements and grid code requirements for generators preferred.

- Understanding of Safe System of Work (SSoW) and authorisations to carry out work on the system is desirable.
