We are proud to be playing a critical role in the net zero transition, as we aim to more than treble the net capacity in operation to 13GW and grow renewable energy output five-fold to over 50TWh over the next 10 years.

About the Role
Base Location: Muir of Ord / Contin areas
Salary: £16.24 - £18.60 per hour. 45 hour working week. Salary depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time
We have an opportunity for a Fabricator to join our established Renewable Operation's business.
Based from Muir of Ord/Contin, you'll play a key role within the Fabricator team, who's responsibility is to maintain components around our Civil Hydro Assets. Our diverse Hydro portfolio includes over 56 Hydro stations, 84 dams, a catchment area of around 8,800sq.km providing an installed capacity of over 1450MW.
Some of your main accountabilities will include;
- Ensuring the highest level of health, safety and environmental compliance on SSE programme works, by making sure all SSE staff and contractors comply with and maintain safe working practices.
- Fulfilling roles under CDM (2015), and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Working with SSE staff and contractors to guarantee rigorous application of risk assessments and frequent review of method statements.
- Using technical experience and knowledge to carry out fabrication work in the shop and on site, reporting progress, and ensuring compliance with agreed work scopes.
- The day-to-day fabrication and installation of delivering the PUWER maintenance works within the Hydro catchment.
You'll be required to achieve authorisation levels within SSE Generation System Safety Rules (GSSRs), and training will be provided.
What do I need?
This role would be well suited to someone with a Fabrication and/or site works background, with a wide range of technical knowledge around Hydro Assets.
To be considered for this role, we would also love you to have;
- An SVQ 2, NC, or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline.
- The ability to risk assess activities throughout your working day and to work within Health and Safety guidelines.
- A considered and flexible approach to problem solving, ensuring that safety is always at the forefront of any proposed solution.
- Experience of supervising works would be advantageous, however it is not essential, as full training will be provided to support your development within the role.
- The role involves manual handling and lifting, installation, climbing ladders and scaffolding, and navigating uneven terrain in sometimes harsh conditions to access sites, therefore the ability to undertake these activities independently is essential.
- The willingness to be flexible, as working away from home may be required.
As you will be travelling to different sites, it is essential you hold a full, current and valid driving licence.
