Challenge your expertise in optical design – in eye care and beyond.

TTP is a collaborative consultancy driven by a passion for cutting-edge product development. As part of our Eyecare team, you can expect to contribute to high-tech solutions ranging from intraocular lenses through to retinal cameras. It's the kind of tech that will make a meaningful difference and could stretch the boundaries of your technical understanding.

At the same time, optical experience is in demand across our business, meaning you’ll have opportunities to apply your expertise to an array of product development programmes spanning Deep Tech to Life Science. You'll get to create designs, run simulations, and build and test prototypes. This could also involve leading projects or providing technical contributions towards some non-optics work, such as electromagnetics or physics/mechanics. There will also be opportunities to grow your leadership, communication and commercial skills.

You’ll be working with a supportive team of world-class engineers, scientists, and designers. Together, you’ll explore new technological frontiers whilst benefitting from our culture of freedom with minimal bureaucracy.

About you

We’re inviting applications from a range of backgrounds for this role – you might currently call yourself a Physicist, an Engineer or a Project Leader. We’re more interested in the experience and mindset you bring to the role than the job titles you’ve held.

Consultancy work at TTP involves more than technical research and development. You’ll lean into your ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to colleagues and clients from diverse fields of expertise. You are naturally curious with a growth mindset which will help you tackle complex challenges at the leading edge of innovation. You’ll also be a self-starter who values the freedom to produce your best work.

To be shortlisted for an interview, your CV will need to include evidence of:

  • Academic excellence: a 1st or upper 2nd class degree or equivalent in a physical science or engineering
  • A PhD or equivalent industrial experience, with two or more years of additional academic or commercial R&D experience
  • Experience in modelling physical systems using either commercial or custom software
  • Experience in optical system design and applying experimental skills
