About the Role

Base Location: Glasgow, Perth, Inverness, Aberdeen

Salary: Up to £65,000 + car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full-Time | Flexible First options available

As part of the SSEN Transmission Pathway to 2030 programme of works, we have a number of Substation Project Engineering opportunities to support its delivery, including Senior Engineer, Project Engineer and Assistant Project Engineer levels.

The roles advertised would sit within SSEN Transmissions project engineering team with a focus on AC substation design and, although, specific experience with Transmission networks would be desirable, it is not necessary. We encourage candidates with a project engineering background, ideally with experience in high voltage substation engineering in either contractor, consultancy, or client organisations within the energy industry to apply. For Assistant Project Engineer positions, we will consider candidates from other industries, with good transferable skills and willingness to learn for the role.

The key responsibilities will be:

- Involvement in the full project life cycle, from project definition, conceptual and front-end design development, preparing and evaluating tenders from contractors and consultants, detailed design reviews, HAZID/HAZCON/HAZOP sessions into supporting construction, installation, commissioning, and project completion.

- Creating technical scopes, site location plans, primary plant layouts and single line diagrams for new build and asset replacement type projects, operating up to 400kV.

- Reviewing contractor/consultants detailed designs and witnessing factory acceptance testing.

- Support site and operational teams to ensure the quality of installations, with minimal risk to network security.

-Working closely with Engineering Managers and Project Managers to ensure that engineering and quality risks are identified and mitigated.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- A good awareness of the technical functions in Transmission, along with an appreciation of legal and regulatory obligations and project governance and engineering processes.

- Self-Starter attitude, who enjoys problem solving and have an ability to communicate complex technical issues in a clear and concise manner to facilitate decision making by senior management.

- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate diligence and to prioritise workload.

- An understanding of the legislation and implications of such for the management of the Transmission network for both Assets and Projects, including CDM & ESQCR.

- Preferably hold or, with past work experience be working towards a degree or masters in an appropriate engineering discipline depending on the level of position applied for.
