About the Role

Base Location: Glasgow or Perth with a minimum expectation of 1-2 days per week in the office. This is primarily to enable use of modelling software.

Salary: £47,600 - £71,600 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available.

In this role, you will be part of our Thermal Engineering and Asset Management team, performing essential functions and responsibilities to support our energy projects across the UK and Ireland. You will report to the Process Engineering Manager and Senior Process Engineer and will provide diverse engineering services in collaboration with Thermal Operations, Commercial, Development & Business Development. This opportunity is part of our mission to deliver flexible energy and spearhead the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon future.

Key responsibilities covering new projects & existing fleet, with core team responsibilities:

- Process analysis and performance optimisation across components and entire plants/systems.

- Modelling & simulation of thermal power, gas storage, carbon capture, hydrogen production and other systems.

- Fuels, combustion & emissions calculations; fluid flow and heat transfer analysis. Design and configuration/sizing options, value engineering.

- Early-stage concept designs including derivation of key input/output data for internal governance and planning applications.

- Concept stage, detailed design and execution phase technical authority role: responsible for process input/outputs, performance & capability guarantees, heat & mass balances, P&IDs, system functionality & component sizing.

What do I need?

- Degree qualified engineer, experienced in thermal power and/or gas storage process engineering. Candidates from different industries may be considered provided they have experience of energy systems with a deep understanding of conversion efficiencies and emissions.

- Have a proven track record in the use of process modelling and simulation tools.

- Be able to demonstrate strong technical skills and have a detailed understanding of technical/commercial interactions and experienced in interacting with diverse departments and teams.

- Highly motivated and committed with strong interpersonal skills, able to deliver high quality specialist technical work and communicate complexity in an understandable way.

- Able to work on a range of projects, from detailed analysis of individual components to overall process design.
