About the Role - Threat Analyst

Base Location: Reading, Havant, Cardiff, Perth

Salary: £58,630 - £68,098 + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

What is the Role?

Candidates for this role will be required to obtain vetting to SC level through UK Government. The criteria normally includes 5 years UK residency, further information can be found here: United Kingdom Security Vetting: Applicant - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

A Threat Analyst is responsible for collecting, processing, analysing, and disseminating cybersecurity threat assessments and, developing cybersecurity indicators to maintain awareness of the status of the highly dynamic operating environment.

The role will work closely with business stakeholders.

The main responsibilities include:

- Research and investigate attack techniques and recommend ways to defend against them.

- Lead continuous evaluation and improvement of Hunting tools. Define operational parameters for use, and conduct reviews of tool performance and outputs.

- Create scripts and select appropriate tools to test attack paths in line with MITRE ATT&CK principles.

- Support security investigations to provide post-mortem analysis to illuminate issues and possible solutions.

- Review system logs, SIEM tools and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Organised approach that can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines in a high-pressure environment.

- Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating. Strong written and oral communication skills.

- Ability to pick up new technical skills quickly and apply them relevantly.

- Ability to interact with SSE staff at all levels up to senior and across all business units and organisations.

- Ability to gain UK National Security Vetting clearance level of Security Check (SC).
