Job Details
Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.
Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.
Package: £37,860 - £54,000 per annum (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)
Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. We will consider flexible working requests so that your work may fit in with your lifestyle. Just let us know your preferred working pattern on your application.

AWE is looking for a Reliability Systems Engineer to join our Dependability Team, to provide specialist systems engineering support to technically challenging projects to ensure the reliability and availability of our core products now and into the future.
This is an exciting position for product dependability specialists or technical individuals who want to develop in this specialist area. The role comes with comprehensive training & support to enhance the successful candidate's skill set.
We would like to hear from individuals who are looking to develop their knowledge of dependability and the unique technologies that ensure a safe and secure future for our nation, through the UK independent nuclear deterrent.
The role will involve:
Providing specialist support to core AWE projects to ensure that our products are dependable throughout their lifetime.
Developing a deep understanding of our product whilst enhancing systems and dependability engineering knowledge.
Liaising with stakeholders, undertaking analysis, and producing technical reports and/or presentations.
Optimising statistical studies and interpreting results for communication to an audience from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Working with other specialists to provide evidence to support a case-based approach for dependability assurance.
Application of systems engineering knowledge to system requirements, reliability architecture and system simulation.
The ideal candidate must be willing to undertake occasional travel in the UK and overseas (likely to be USA).
Who are we looking for?
We do need you to have the following:
A technical degree or equivalent practical experience in a STEM discipline.
The application of systems thinking in a technical role
The ability to engage with a variety of stakeholders including business leaders and subject matter experts.
The ability to write high quality technical reports and presentations.
Ability to contribute to the planning and execution of tasks in order to deliver specific agreed objectives on time, demonstrating awareness of cost, quality, and timeliness of engineering output.
Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality and be a great team player.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:
Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) skills, including the use of Enterprise Architect and DOORS.
Understanding of reliability and life analysis statistics.
Experience with Teamcenter.
Working within a highly regulated industry.
Elicitation and development of requirements for complex projects or systems.
Derivation and allocation of requirements to system elements.
Development, tailoring and documenting of requirements management processes and procedures at an enterprise or project level.
You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines. You will be inquisitive and not afraid to ask questions or challenge.

You will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.
