Product Realisation Senior Manager

Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Package: £Negotiable (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

AWE is currently recruiting for a Principal Realisation - Senior Manager to provide technical expertise and guidance across the fissile projects being delivered through setting strategic direction for production processes, interfacing across the existing Tech Centres, Capital Project Teams, and delivery partners to ensure that the new facilities are operable and incorporate lessons learnt.

Key to success will be setting the strategy for future fissile operations ensuring consistency across the operations to enable resource agility.

  • Provide strategic thought leadership on future manufacturing capabilities.
  • Set and lead the strategic direction of work techniques.
  • Challenge suggested designs and ensure optimal, safe, operable production processes for the future.
  • Use of learning from experience to embed best practice within the Design Houses, and into the proposed manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in each of the Gate reviews and Design Reviews as part of the Intelligent Customer Team, championing future operations.
  • Challenge assumptions within safety cases to ensure appropriate assumptions are made.
  • Undertake knowledge management and transfer of specialist knowledge into one or more potential successors, coaching and developing others as appropriate.

Who are we looking for?

  • Strong technical leadership and change management skills with a track record of successfully leading teams through operational transformations.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • In depth understanding of manufacturing processes.

We do need you to have the following:

Degree or equivalent in a related discipline or equivalent significant experience.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and a commitment to safety in all operations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • A strong track record in leading and driving cultural and process change and achieving demonstrable improvements in efficiency, delivery and operational effectiveness.

You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.

Due to the classified nature of the work involved, there are limited opportunities to work from home in this role. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will spend the majority of their time working on site at AWE Aldermaston.
