About the Role
Base Location: Reading, Havant or Perth

As the Allegro Technical specialist within Energy Markets IT, you'll join the Front Office (Access to Markets) value stream where you'll play a key role in delivering a range of technical services for the Allegro platform.
Allegro is the key platinum service used by the energy traders 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is our primary Platinum service, hosted on the SSE cloud platform. Allegro is the central repository for capturing trades within SSE's Energy Markets business and manages the workflow of trades through the complete lifecycle.
You will provide guidance and direction on Allegro specific technical changes and operational support, including assurance of service transition during the DevOps cycle. You will work closely with the Product Owner and Delivery Lead to support the delivery of the Allegro service. Your knowledge and influence will facilitate the ongoing maintenance and development of the key Allegro components.
Key responsibilities for this role will include:
- Designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring and supporting significant components of the Allegro Platform across production and non-production environments.
- Managing 3rd Party ION relationship and technical reviews of upcoming releases, representing SSE at industry conferences and events.
- Applying your experience of Azure cloud computing of the Allegro platform.
- Providing the focal point for advice, guidance and technical input of own area through knowledge transfer, one to one workshops and mentoring of other team members as required.
- Managing major IT incidents to resolution within defined SLAs and utilising problem management to avoid repeat occurrences.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Expert technical knowledge of the Allegro Platform (ETRM).
- API Integration with 3rd party exchanges.
- Multiple Agile environment full SDLC under your belt from a DevOps Engineering perspective with a preference for building applications with Azure experience or other DevOps tools such as Git/Github.
- Experience in Build & Release Management, Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD), ideally using Azure DevOps (pipelines, repos, releases) to release software to production.
- Knowledge of deployments using Infrastructure as Code in Terraform and ARM templates.
