Job Title: Principal Engineer – Electrical Calibration

What you’ll be doing:

Perform and supervise high level calibration / repair of electrical test, measurement and diagnostic equipment (TMDE) including resource management and calibration workload signoff
Write, review, and approve calibration procedures and measurement uncertainty budgets
Take part in UKAS (ISO 17025) audits and quickly achieve UKAS signatory status
Deliver specific, target driven on the job training / experiential leaning to apprentices / lesser experienced team members
Professional communication with technical stakeholders including consultation on new measurement technologies
Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

Extensive experience in a precision Electrical metrology laboratory environment
Understanding of quality systems & standards (ISO 17025 / ISO 9001)
Relevant academic qualification (STEM Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent)
Desirable:

Existing UKAS signatory status for Electrical Calibration
Experience in creation of measurement uncertainty budgets to ISO 17025 level
Experience in use of automation software (Fluke Metcal, Met/Track, Met/Teams, Labview)
Experience in Mechanical / Dimensional / Temperature calibrations

The (ICS Electrical) team:

The calibration department currently supports 30,000 pieces of equipment per year, ranging from traditional analogue equipment through to state-of-the-art digital systems. ICS Electrical focuses the calibration of TMDE capable of making AC/DC voltage, current, resistance, inductance, capacitance, and time & frequency measurements. ICS Electrical supports calibrations in a dedicated laboratory as well on site around the Barrow Submarines Site and Walney Aerodrome. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
