About the role


As a craft assistant – Substations, you will be required to live within a 30-minute commute of the Merseyside area as you will join our Merseyside team covering 6 substations including, Fiddlers Ferry, Rainhill, Kirkby, Lister Drive, Washway Farm and Cellarhead. The Craft assistant – Substations role will undertake site routines and condition monitoring and the opportunity of supporting the Substation Craftsperson’s on plant and equipment in line with commercial targets.

What you'll be doing


Assist Craftsperson’s/ in carrying out duties
Complete site routines & condition monitoring in a timely manor
Proactively communicate with line manager/supervisors
Enable on track work programmes to maintain target prioritisation as necessary
Proactively manage and plan own time to aid progress and completion of work
Utilise IT systems to resolve work-related problems
Eliminate accidents through risk assessment techniques, method statements, hazard awareness and reporting near misses
Provide site access to contractors who undertake regular pre planned maintenance schedules
About You


Are you a self-motivated team player who can work unsupervised and in a lone environment and who has strong time management and problem-solving skills? If so, our craft assistant– Substations vacancy may be for you:


Essential:



A full UK driving license
IT skills
Hand skills/attention to detail


Desirable:



Modern apprenticeship or relevant NVQs and City & Guilds 232 or equivalent in an engineering discipline
On the tools engineering experience gained from an industrial environment
Experience of adhering to industrial H&S & environmental regulations
Experience of working with various types of plant/equipment
Experience of working within HVs/stns
Experience of continuous improvement

A competitive starting salary of £31,973 – £35,735 PA dependent on experience + company car
