The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen within MBDA’s Customer Support & Services (CSS) organisation for a strong competent leader to deliver a key Weapon capability to international customers.  The successful candidate will take the lead in ensuring all product support activities are planned, managed and delivered in a manner which satisfies not only our contractual obligations but at all times maintains MBDA reputation throughout the product In-Service Lifecycle.  This opportunity will give the successful candidate considerable scope to improve programme management skills, develop Customer facing skills and promote their profile internationally within MBDA.
 

The Role
This job will involve developing and sustaining the support for the weapon ensuring the capability to satisfy Customer requirements in the immediate and longer term.
 
The successful applicant will be accountable for a number of core activities, including:
  • Championing the satisfaction of the associated major stakeholders, by managing the successful and timely delivery of the weapons In Service Support (ISS) in accordance with contractual commitments and in a manner that is consistent with the best interests of both MBDA and customers.
  • Developing and owning the long-term product support strategy through to mid-life and beyond, working across MBDA international stakeholders, and customer community, and the associated supply chain.
  • Managing, developing and maintaining effective long-term relationships with key stakeholders across an International Joint Project Office (IJPO) and the export customer community.
  • In conjunction with the Major Equipment Procurement (MEP) organisation, working closely with key suppliers and partners within the weapon supply chain to manage extant, and, where needed, implementing new sub-system support contracts.
  • Managing the technical and engineering interface between the CSS management team and the product Design Authority, and the wider MBDA international organisation.
  • Working closely with the internal functional support team, including Business & Performance, Commercial, Engineering, MEP, Manufacturing, and Finance, to successfully deliver the ISS business.
  • Planning and controlling the delivery of contracted ISS services to the international partners on time, on cost and on quality, via the IJPO contracting authority.
  • Technical liaison with the Supply Chain in management of sub-systems Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) contracts.
  • Providing timely product support advice to the CSS management team and Sales & Business Development organisation to enhance bids and existing contract obligations.
  • Ensuring (in close co-ordination with the Project Design and CSS UK Support Authorities) that the product Support Policy is technically sound and is integral to and supportive of the Mid-Life strategy.
  • Management of a small team of Project and Functional staff.

  • Broad-based engineering background with substantial knowledge and experience of Weapon Systems.
  • Understanding of the technical and logistics requirements of different customers and awareness of their cultures.
  • Ability to negotiate and converse with the customer at all levels in an open, honest and trusting manner.
  • Ability to quickly assess customer queries, hardware failures or supplier issues and to identify remedial actions.
  • Understanding of the commercial and financial implications of the technical solutions to IJPO and MBDA and the consequential effects on export customers (where applicable).
  • Typically educated to degree standard.
  • European language skills would be beneficial.
