The Northern Lighthouse Board – is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, established by statute to provide, maintain and inspect marine Aids to Navigation throughout its waters and funded through income from Light Dues.

Based at the Board’s Headquarters within the New Town of central Edinburgh, the Asset Manager will have overall responsibility for all NLB Lights and Buildings.  The post will be accountable for the creation and implementation of the Asset Management Strategy and Policy and will manage escalated conflicts for prioritisation of work.

Directly managing an experienced and skilled team of engineers the Asset Manager will work in cooperation with Renewal and Delivery Managers’ teams. The overall objective being to ensure an efficient and effective marine Aids to Navigation network is maintained, providing a safe working environment for staff and preserving important historic lighthouses in line with listing obligations.

This is a newly created role under the recently re-organised structure and will be an excellent opportunity for an individual to drive forward asset management improvement within the NLB.  The successful candidate will have strong and proven leadership skills as well as experience of implementing engineering asset management strategy and policy. 

The successful candidate will also hold an Electrical or Civil engineering based professional qualification to at least degree level or equivalent with associated good knowledge of technical due diligence.  Experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams is also essential along with a working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
