Would you like to play a key role in the delivery and management of submarine combat systems? We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager at our site in either Frimley, Broad Oak or Weymouth.
As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the management and delivery of the engineering aspects of the various submarine programmes and projects being carried out in the Common Equipment Team of the submarine combat system.
This role will provide you with the chance to work on a complex, high value projects of national importance, alongside excellent career progression opportunities.
Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager will involve:
The management and integration of multi-disciplined engineering teams, including the leadership of engineering resources and the delivery of packages of work involving new products and/or complex upgrades
Delivery of projects to meet customer and contractual obligations; including management of cost, quality, timeliness and specification
The resolution of engineering conflicts between disciplines, systems and capabilities
Integration of activity and solution development; including meeting a coherent and prioritised set of demands, tailoring and applying engineering processes, tools and approaches to develop innovative and creative solutions
Identifying and exploiting commonality across the various projects and programmes to enable more efficient delivery of as much of a common combat systems product as possible
Your skills and qualifications as an Engineering Manager:
Engineering management experience gained from complex projects within an engineering environment, such as: defence, aerospace, nuclear, automotive, oil & gas etc.
Degree or equivalent qualification or experience within engineering or closely related discipline
Engineering lifecycle knowledge and experience
Experience of working with multi-displined teams
Systems, mechanical, electrical or electronics engineering background
Knowledge of submarine combat systems

You must also be an excellent communicator who is able to take a tactful approach when dealing with conflicting requirements. You must be willing to travel between our sites (as a guide on average once every 2 weeks) as we have team members in Frimley and Weymouth.

Maritime Submarines - Combat Systems
Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century. It currently employs approximately 7,700 people, with 500 of these working for Combat Systems across our sites in Barrow-in-Furness, Ash Vale, Broad Oak, Filton, Frimley and Weymouth.
We are currently responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of the Royal Navy's latest and most capable generation of attack submarines, as well as their intelligent Combat Systems trusted to detect threats in the naval environment.
Our Combat Systems team designs, builds, integrates and supports all of the submarine combat systems in the UK fleet - essentially, the eyes and ears of each platform. We provide through-life support for combat systems, sensors and radars, and deliver complex programmes and technologies by applying expert programme management and world-class engineering.
