Salary: £38,265 - £50,539 (SS08) depending on skills and experience + car

Permanent – Full Time Hours

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks forms part of the FTSE-50 energy company, SSE. Our electricity distribution and transmission networks carry electricity to over 3.7 million homes and businesses across the north of Scotland and Central Southern England. Our skilled teams are based right across the regions we serve, from the bustle of West London to the smallest villages in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.

We have highly skilled teams working on our Networks to maintain and improve our operations at all time; this is where you come in. With responsibility for managing a large team of contractors, ensuring all works are being carried out safely, and in line with the programmes set out by our internal stakeholders. You’ll oversee the construction of the full Network, and will project manage your team to ensure efficient and high quality delivery of outputs in line with budget and timescales.

To ensure you get the most from your role, and our customers receive the highest standard of service, we would like for you to hold a sound knowledge of the distribution business, along with a thorough knowledge of the design, operation, protection and safety aspects associated with High Voltage electrical networks. Demonstrable experience of delivering projects is a must, as is experience of managing teams.

Your organisational skills be of a particularly high standard; our projects involve many different stakeholders with varying interests and timescales. Commercial acumen is also essential, as you will hold responsibility for a large project budget. As a people manager, you should be comfortable communication with colleagues at all levels, as well as providing a leadership figure for any concerns or queries.
